Having a busy lifestyle in a fast-pace city with little time to cook and clean, Melissa Intag’s client needed to come home to an organized and functional kitchen to prepare a quick meal for himself and relax. The cluttered and hectic space needed a plan to provide a complete gut renovation. The biggest challenge was to create a sleek modern look with a sophisticated ambience without disrupting the existing basic “island and peninsula” layout. The existing kitchen consisted of outdated materials, stand alone appliances, lack of organization, dysfunctional storage, and wasted space. With the variety of cabinetry and accessories that Aster Cucine provides, every corner was taken advantage of and the kitchen was made functional and spacious. The upper cabinets extended to the ceiling. Tall pull-out pantry units added easy access. Magic corners took advantage of dead space. Built-in stainless steel appliances required less space. The combination of the light oak, stainless steel, black countertops, and black glass cube-shaped upper cabinets created a sophisticated atmosphere and sleek appearance. The designer not only faced the challenge of using finishes that give a modern look, but also matching them to the existing marble floor. The colors were pulled from various shades in the tiles. Under-cabinet lighting reflects on the stainless backsplash and black countertop, making up for the lack of direct light. The highlighted features include the black back-painted cube cabinets, under-cabinet lighting, and magic corners. These transformations provided the client with a more suitable kitchen, aesthetically and functionally.
